Neil MacKinnon 2024 Award of Distinction Honoree

The 2024 Award of Distinction Ceremony will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. in the Rossford Junior-Senior High School Auditorium where this year’s honoree, Neil A. MacKinnon III, will be recognized for his significant contributions to society.

Neil A. MacKinnon III is a member of the RHS graduating class of 1986 and the proud father of two children, Neil and Nadia—also Rossford High School graduates.

Neil works as the Project Manager and New Business Development Officer for his family’s commercial roofing business, Nordmann Roofing, established in 1931.

In addition to working for his family’s firm, Neil has served as the Mayor of the City of Rossford in November 2011, going on to serve consecutive terms in 2015 and 2019 and continues to proudly serve “The Great City of Rossford” after running unopposed in the 2023 election. While serving in this capacity, Mayor MacKinnon has shown his love and passion for his hometown demonstrated by his tireless efforts to bring business development, employment opportunities, and successful completion of projects and undertakings to improve the city and the quality of life for its citizens—most notably, developments in the Crossroads area to include Amazon, Murphy Tractor and Equipment, the fully utilized NAI Harmon Business Park, and the Whiteford Kenworth building under construction. At the northeast entrance to the city, his administration saw the 2016 purchase of the former 100-year-old Ford Club by Industrial Power Systems (IPS) who renovated and restored the building to its original grandeur. This, coupled with the announcement by NSG Pilkington Glass (formerly LOF Glass), a multimillion dollar investment in the plant added momentum to the rejuvenation of the main downtown corridor and small business ownership through the corridor. His work with the Rossford Convention and Visitors Bureau has resulted in enhancements to the Edward Ford Memorial Park, including added seating and expanded stage that bring community and cultural events to the downtown like the Bureau’s Stroll the Streets and nationally known country music recording artists to the NGS Music Factory to celebrate the City’s
125th Anniversary.

He and his administration have improved recreational opportunities with upgrades and conversions, adding pickleball courts, and the dedication of the John Folcik Park. Under his guidance, upgrades to the Rossford Marina include an area dedicated to a kayak launch and a new building for concessions, restrooms, and showers for its boaters and other visitors to Veterans Park along the river. Other additions include a road curb and sidewalk projects aimed at offering better pedestrian and family pathways. Always with a focus on the safety
and security of the City and its citizens, he was also instrumental in the creation, renovation, and dedication of the Mark G. Zuchowski Safety Planning and Zoning Annex in honor of former Mayor of Rossford and longtime city servant Mark Zuchowski.

Similar to his service to his beloved City, Neil is also one of Rossford Schools biggest supporters. He is frequently seen at school events and activities, offering and providing positive support and energy to students and the district alike. He is an active member of the Bulldog Foundation, a non-profit organization raising funds and designed to enhance the student experience through teacher grants and student experiences. He is always “all-in” when it comes to his high school alma mater with the simplistic signature – “Go Bulldogs!”

The honored guest will also be recognized that evening during the homecoming football game when the Rossford Bulldogs face off with the Lake Flyers at 7:00 p.m. at the Jackson-Ferguson Stadium.
