Safety Procedures

At Rossford Schools, communication and safety are among our top priorities. We want to take a moment to inform you about the safety processes we have in place to protect our students.

When a staff member becomes aware of a potential safety concern—whether through a student, parent, or their own observation—they immediately notify the building administration. In emergencies, our School Resource Officer (SRO) is also involved. If the situation involves a potential threat, our Threat Assessment Team uses an established protocol to evaluate its credibility. This team includes principals, school psychologists, counselors, and our SROs, who are certified and trained in handling such situations.

If you or your student ever hear or see something concerning, we strongly encourage you to report it to a staff member. You can also use the Safer Ohio School Tipline to report it anonymously at https://app.saferohioschooltipline.com.

If a lockdown is determined to be the best approach to a given situation, we notify families to keep you informed. Even if a situation does not rise to the level of a lockdown but causes significant concern, we may still reach out to families to address rumors or provide updates. These decisions are situational and made with careful consideration given the circumstances involved. As a result, communication determinations are made on a case by case basis.

In cases where an incident is not deemed a credible threat but disrupts a specific classroom or bus route, we communicate directly with the affected families. Similarly, if a situation involves only a few students, the building administration will reach out to those families privately. This approach helps ensure student protections and confidentially by sharing information appropriately without causing unnecessary concern and providing the best opportunity for educational continuity.

If you ever have questions or concerns, we encourage you to contact your building office and speak with a principal. While principals cannot share personal information unrelated to your family, they are available to discuss safety concerns for your child.

Thank you for partnering with us to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for all our students. We value open communication with our families and appreciate the trust you place in us.
