Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Jan. 31
Rossford Schools inducted its newest members to its Athletic Hall of Fame during a Jan. 31 ceremony during the varsity basketball game. Jessica (Pietrasz) Bush (Class of 2014), and Margo (Jackson) Schaffer (Class of 2014) were recognized.

Jessica Bush

Jessica (Pietrasz) Bush graduated from Rossford High School in 2014. She is the daughter of James and Sally Pietrasz, sister of Ryan and Jake Pietrasz, and wife of Nicholas Bush.

While at Rossford, Jessica was on the Honor Roll all four years and graduated 4th in her class. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the Northern Buckeye Conference Senior All-Academic Team in both cross country and track.

Jessica earned four varsity letters in track, and two for both cross country and basketball. While she was a three-sport athlete her entire high school career, running was her true calling. Her freshman year, she received NLL league honors in the 800M run and qualified for the regional meet in the 800M run, 4x800M relay, and 4x400M relay. Her sophomore year, she was the NBC league champion in the 400M run, qualified for regionals in the 4x200M relay and 4x400M relay, and competed at the State Track meet in the 800M run. Her junior year, she competed in the Indoor State Championships in the 800M run, received league honors in the 4x200M relay, 4x400M relay, 4x800M relay, and 800M run and qualified for regionals in the 400M run and 4x200M relay. Lastly, during Jessica’s senior year, she received league honors in the 4x200M relay, 4x400M relay, and 800M run, qualified for regionals in the 4x200M relay, 4x400M relay, and 400M run, and competed at the State Track meet as part of the 4x200M relay team. She also currently holds the school record in the 800M run and 4x200M relay.

During her junior year, Jessica decided to trade in her volleyball knee pads for long-distance running shoes and joined the cross-country team. That year, she was named Second Team All-Conference. Her senior year, she went on to place 6th at the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival, was named First Team All-Conference, and qualified for the regional meet.

After high school, Jessica continued her running career at Youngstown State University. She was a member of the women’s cross-country team that was Horizon League Champions in 2014, received a Varsity “Y” in cross-country, and was a member of the women’s indoor track and field team that was Horizon League Runner-Ups in 2015. Unfortunately, her collegiate running career was cut short due to sports-related Injuries.

Jessica graduated from Youngstown State University in 2017, Summa Cum Laude, with a degree in psychology and a minor in criminal behavior. She continued her education at Bowling Green State University and she graduated in 2018 with a master’s degree in forensic investigation. In addition to her post-graduate education, Jessica has obtained certification through the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators. Currently, Jessica lives in Ravenna, Ohio with her husband and works for the Summit County Medical Examiner as a forensic investigator.

Margo Schaffer

Margo is the daughter of Don and Kelly Jackson,  sister to Reed Jackson, and granddaughter of 1991 Rossford Hall of Fame inductee, Don Jackson. Margo and her husband Christopher Schaffer graduated from Rossford High School in 2014.

As a student at Rossford, Margo graduated 10th in the class of 2014. She was the president of National Honor Society, an active member of Student Council, FCA, Red Cross Club, and a four year member of the marching and concert band. 

During her Athletic career, Margo earned 12 varsity Rs, lettering each year in Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball. In volleyball, Margo earned league honors in 3 seasons and district honors in 2 seasons as the team’s Libero. In Basketball, she earned district honors in 2 seasons and league honors in her senior season as the team’s point guard.

Margo always felt most at home on the softball field, where her teammates and coaches felt like family. As a freshman center fielder, she earned 1st Team NLL, 2nd Team All District and won the NLL batting title with the highest average in the league. As a sophomore catcher, she earned 1st Team NBC and 1st Team All District. Her Junior year, she received 1st team NBC and All District, 1st Team All Wood County, and Honorable Mention All Ohio. In her Senior season, Margo was 1st team NBC and All District, 1st Team All Wood County and 2nd Team All Ohio. Margo’s .576 senior batting average is currently 5th best for NBC single season averages and her .536 career batting average places her 3rd in the NBC for career average.

Margo went on to play 4 years of Division II softball at Urbana University, where she started 178 games for the Blue Knights. She was a two-time team captain and eclipsed the top 3 in career records for games started, on base %, hits, doubles, total bases, walks, and throw outs by a catcher. Margo earned 2nd team all-MEC honors, 2nd team Academic all district and was a senior when the Blue Knights boasted the highest GPA of any NCAA / NAIA softball team in the country.

Margo graduated from Urbana University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Science in AYA Social Studies Education. She currently enjoys working in the Rossford School District as a High School Social Studies teacher, Jr. High basketball coach, and Varsity Softball coach. She hopes to spend the rest of her career giving back to the community that made her a Bulldog.
