With 117 educators at two schools, Rossford Exempted Village Schools strives for excellence in its mission to ensure educational equity that focuses on social diversity and encourages excellence. Our vision focuses on preparing, inspiring and empowering all students to achieve success.
While academic scores have increased, Rossford Schools continues to strive for excellence in the classroom. Learning improvement initiatives will help the district achieve those goals. Growth Mindset, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support, and Response to Intervention are the three areas the district is investing time and training to create a Universal Design for Learning environment to help engage students with content.
Rossford Schools also prepares students to become creative and productive members of society through extra-curricular activities. Rossford High School offers 17 varsity sports, five various styles of award-winning bands, several choirs, an acclaimed drama club, art programs with opportunities to showcase student talent in the community, a Serving Our Soldiers (SOS) Club, and Reading Club among other after-school programs. The SOS Club sends care packages and cards to local soldiers serving in the military.
Financially Rossford Schools has earned six consecutive Ohio Auditor of the State Awards from the Auditor of the State's office for having a clean report.
The district serves students who reside in a 42-square mile area within the cities of Rossford and Northwood as well as Perrysburg and Lake Townships. The staff is committed to meeting the academic, safety, and welfare needs of each child. Students are offered challenging and innovative classes along with special programs and extracurricular activities.
Rossford Elementary School provides a nurturing learning atmosphere for students in grades preschool to fifth grade. The Ohio Department of Education ranked the Rossford Schools Preschool Program a Five Star rating the past two years. The Five-Star rating is the highest possible rating on an evaluation that reviews learning and development, administrative and leadership practices, staff qualifications and professional development, and family and community partnerships. At Rossford Junior High School (6-8), the focus is on improving student academic strengths and building cooperative skills through team efforts in various clubs and programs. At Rossford High School, students fine-tune their academic skills with the enhanced educational tools at their commands. Students are well prepared to graduate to the workforce or to higher educational opportunities. Rossford High School students graduate at a 91.6 percentage in four years — up from the state average at 83 percent (according to the 2016 state report card).
Rossford Schools offers outstanding gifted and special needs programs, serving nearly 20 percent of its students. Specially trained and certified staff members are equipped with advanced technology and resources to ensure that each student in the district receives the best possible education. More than 84 percent of the certificated staff hold master’s degrees or higher, and the district encourages professional development for educators to keep abreast of the latest developments in instruction. Several staff members have been called upon to conduct presentations at national seminars.
In 2020 Rossford Schools became a two district school with Rossford Elementary School and Rossford Junior-Senior High School (grades 6-12). Both schools offer 21 Century learning environments preparing students for a future work force with digital and STEM opportunities.
